Quick Hello from the Airport

Muistan, kuinka jo yläasteikäsenä päätin haluavani asumaan toiseen maahan; se tuntui vaan niin luonnollselta. Vaihtovuosiunelmat siirtyivät kuitenkin syrjään ja niiden tilalle tuli innostus töiden tekemisestä ulkomailla sekä - hui - ehkä jopa koko tutkinnon suorittaminen ulkomailla. Yhtenä suurimpana innoittajana toimi kielitaidon kehittäminen, joten aloin googlettamaan yliopistoja kaikista Euroopan maista, joissa puhutaan englantia, ranskaa ja espanjaa. Turhauduin, koska tietoa oli niin vähän tarjolla, kukaan ei ollut neuvomassa minua ja epäilin omia kielitaitoja. Kaikki tuntui niin kaukaiselta, kun tutkin koko Espanjan yliopistotarjontaa, napsuttelin auki kivankuuloisia tutkintoja Strasbourgissa ja googlettelin vuokratasoa Brysselissä.

Tähän olisi tullut kaunis matkustuskuva, mutta unohtui ottaa Rosa lähdössä -kuva. Tässä kärräilen kahta suurta matkalaukkua, reppua ja käsilaukkua Helsinki-Vantaalla ja odotan, että check-in aukeaa ja pääsisin noista eroon.

Nyt tuntuu, että kaikki menee niin kuin on tarkoituskin. Mä oon niin onnellinen, että lähdin tekemään omaa juttuani. Kohtahan mä oonkin jo Madridissa!

I remember how I used to dream of living abroad as a 14-year-old teen; it felt so natural to me. My exchange year plans got overshadowed by a sudden interest in working abroad and, eek, maybe even get my whole bachelor's degree abroad! One of my biggest source of inspiration was learning more languages, which was why I started googling universities in countries that speak English, French or Spanish and are inside of Europe. I got frustrated, because there was so little information, no one was there to help me and I was a bit unsure of my language skills. Everything felt so faraway, pointless, when I explored all of Spain's universities, clicked open nice programmes in Strasbourg and googled about the rent in Brussels. 

This is where I would've put my travel photo, but we forgot to take a 'Rosa is leaving' pic. Here I am, at Helsinki airport, with a trolley loaded with two big suitcases, a back bag and a hand bag waiting for the check in to open so that I can get rid off this stuff.

Now I feel like everything's going like it's supposed to. I'm immensely happy I decided to go and do my thing. Soon I'll be in Madrid!

Getting ready for uni and Madrid!

Moooikka! Mitenkäs kaikilla on lähtenyt syksy menemään? Täällä päin on jäljellä usean matkalaukun pakkaaminen, Tampereen reissu ja rentoutuminen ennen kuin kone lähtee kohti Espanjaa! Liikaa oon ehtinyt suomessa stressaamaan tutustumispäivää (josta ei siis vieläkään. ennen kahta viikkoa, ole kerrottu mitään muuta kuin päivämäärä) sekä opintotukea, että ajattelin, että nyt saa riittää. Mitään ei ole tehtävissä, joten voin vain ottaa hälläväliä -asenteen. En edes jaksa selittää teille mitä kaikkea siellä päässä möhlitään, mutta paljastetaan sen verran, että sihteeri ei monen rauhallisen selityksen jälkeenkään ymmärtänyt tämän suomalaisen olevan koulun listoilla. Hän vain toisti samaa kysymystä: ¿estas matriculada? ja puhui vaihtovuodesta, kun olisin halunnut opiskelutodistuksen. Hoidetaanpa Espanjassa nämä asiat sitten :D

ENG: Hey everyone! How has autumn started off for all of you? Over here it's all about packing several suitcases, visiting Tampere and relaxing before I get on my plane towards Madrid! I've been relatively busy worrying about my reception day (of which they've informed purely and simply the date, regardless of it being in two weeks) and financial aid so I thought this is enough. There's nothing I can do about these matters, so I might as well just let the 'no pasa nada' attitude take over me. I can't be bothered to explain all the stuff I've had problems with with the university, but I'll reveal a little something. After several, slow explanations, the secretary still didn't understand that I was registered in the university, not an Erasmus student. She kept repeating the same question: ¿estas matriculada? while I would've just wanted to get a certificate saying that I'm enrolled. Let's sort these things out in Spain :D

Multa voi jatkossa ehkä odottaakin vähän lyhyempiä postauksia, kun blogin kirjoittaminen alkaa aina kehtuuttaa muiden asioiden varjossa, enkä kuitenkaan halua unohtaa tätä sivua. Enkä haluaa luopua kaksikielisyydestä, vaikka se pidentää postauksia, koska niin suuri osa mun kavereista ei osaa suomea. Haha. Onks muilla muuten blogger ollut jotenkin oudon "kapea" lähiaikoina? En pysty vaihtamaan banneria tai uusimaan widgettejä, kun muokkaa -napit jäävät piiloon. Nyyh.

I think you can expect a bit shorter posts in the future, as other exciting things are overshadowing my blog lately, but I still don't want to give up writing. Also, I don't want to get rid off the bilingualism, even though it makes the posts a lot longer, because I know most of you lovelies don't understand Finnish! By the way, have any of you found blogger exceptionally 'narrow' lately? I'm not able to change the banner nor renew the widgets, because they are hidden. Boohoo. 

P.S. Tarkkasilmäiset ja ei-niin-tarkkasilmäiset ovat varmasti huomanneet, että ulkoasu lähti vaihtoon. Siinä olisi vähän hiomista, mutta en silläkään jaksa rassata päätä, joten se saa olla tällainen hetken. Mitäs mieltä olette siitä?

P.S. The most sharp-eyed and the not-so-sharp-eyed ones have probably noticed that I ditched the old layout. This one needs a bit touching up, but I can't be bothered to stress about that either, so it'll stay like this for a while. What do you think?
