I know this is the third time I am writing about this island but I still have lots of photos. You
might remember Fort Royal CLICK and Paradise Island CLICK which both tell about this island too. Oh, how I would love to go back!
I actually got a bit sentimental when we were in our boat sailing to this island. It was another warm Sunday and none of us were in a hurry. My hair was fluttering in the wind, I was surrounded by a bunch of good friends and we listened to some great music. I couldn't help but let the tears roll down my cheeks. I guess someone else was happy too as I saw an old lady dancing on the deck to the rhythm of our music.
Apparently grasshoppers can be BIG in France
This is enough from this one island, don't you think? Haha, seriously.
Just look at the poor amount of text in this post! Time to leave it
behind now. There are already 48 of you followers on GFC, thank you all ♥
Hello from Cannes! This city is best-known for its annual film festival which attracts celebrities from all over the world. The photos above are where the festival is held, but of course the place looks a bit different after decorating it with red carpets and other glamorous stuff.
We visited Cannes very quickly which I thought was a shame. I was really looking forward to exploring all the cute streets and going through second hand shops (perhaps to discover some used luxury handbags, who knows) On that day it rained and thundered for the first time in France. Some of us seemed to be quite scared as we zigzagged our way in the mountains by bus.
We did have some time for shopping! I think Cannes was the city where I actually did most of my purchases during the language course. The streets had a really nice feel and atmosphere in them. Didn't really stand out of the other Riviera cities, but it was still beautiful. Here is some video material from Cannes, too! CLICK
My blog has been dead for a while, so I decided it's time to revive it a bit by making a little video.☺
The first video I've ever edited...Every day was full of different kinds of activities, new words and new places. Not to mention new friends! Since our journey lasted for 24 days, you can only imagine how little this video tells about our trip. My "good night's sleep" was approximately 6 hours a day because there was so much to see and do...
Anyway, here it is!
1. Our home town Saint Raphaël
This is where our school, discos, beach and evening activies were. Click here to read more!
We were offered access to the EF lounge, which had computers, nintendos, board games and other kinds of activities for us. The lounge was in the school's area and we could spend time there with our new friends after school (mon-fri 12.00-->) I didn't really feel like spending time there because it was boiling hot outside and the beach was close. However, on one of the last days in Saint Raphaël I decided to check it out!
2. Cannes
The city that is famous for its movie festivals! I made a post about the weird art of Cannes earlier on. Click here to read about it.
To be honest, it wasn't that special. But of course it was fun! We went shopping and saw the place where the celebrities go for their film festival. Something that I won't forget, though, is the bus ride to Cannes. It was the only day of our language course when it rained. And boy did it rain! It was raining cats and dogs and there was lightning in the sky. Many people found it quite scary because the bus was driving high in the mountains, right next to the edge where the sea was.
3. Luna Park
After reading all the 2/5 reviews on the internet, we wanted to test this amusement park ourselves. All I can say is that it wasn't extremely fun. On the other hand, we didn't really have high expectations about it. There were a few rides that didn't seem to be very secure. All the bumping around hurt my neck. But I don't regret it, not at all! In fact, I returned to Luna Park with some Italian friends just to enjoy the ambiance.
Today we went to this city which is famous for its film festival, Cannes. Despite the fact that we were driving right next to the coast line on high mountains with thunder and massive lightnings very near, our trip was a success. At least we're still alive, haha. For the first time here it rained today pretty heavily but it didn't last for very long. These are photos of the art we found outside. It looked so cheerful because of its colours even on a cloudy day.(which was by the way perfect for wandering around the town) We didn't have to go to an art museum this time!
The first reaction after we finally got through the gates was: this place is definitely haunted. My friend and I tried going to this place on our own but the man at the ticket stall kept saying we need to be accompanied by an EF adult. Since when were free sights only for adults? We had to get our leader with us! That's the very reason we didn't have time to explore this weird place properly.
Anyway, it's said that a movie based on a true story was filmed on this island in the prison. It sounded so interesting but we never got to the prison. As if we weren't frightened enough already, there was a bunch of french kids eating right outside one of the buildings. Apparently they were staying the night there and these haunted buildings are still used as accommodations. Now that really freaks me out. Us Finnish girls decided that the kids had to be ghosts.
Discovering the greenest island you've ever seen must be one of the best things during a holiday. Going on a cruise was very refreshing. On the boat I felt so free again after a long time! I'm quite sad that we couldn't stay on the island for more than a few hours. Luckily memories won't fade away. And even if they did, I'd still have a handful of beautiful, smooth stones from this little island as a reminder of the paradise.
Hey there! I'm Rosa, a 21-year-old Finnish girl and this is my travel & lifestyle blog. I live in the lovely city of Madrid and study modern languages - French and English. You could say I'm a language geek & bitten by the travel bug. Hop on to my journey and enjoy your ride ✌
